The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing month-end close activities, investigating transactions, and contributing to process improvements. This position offers the chance to apply strong financial accounting concepts and a sense of urgency to directly support the finance leadership.
Work Arrangement:
- On-site initially, with opportunity for one day from home once trained
- This position requires the candidate to split their office time between two locations within the GTA
- Support the preparation and completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including participation in physical inventory counts for multiple facilities.
- Prepare and analyze detailed balance sheet reconciliations for non-subledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all amounts reflected on the company’s balance sheets.
- Manage and maintain the fixed asset subledger, verifying accuracy and validity of assets; monitor monthly depreciation and review deposit accounts to confirm assets are properly capitalized with appropriate useful lives.
- Record and reconcile all payroll-related journal entries and accruals in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations, initiate wire transfers, and prepare weekly cash flow forecasts to support liquidity management.
- Develop a strong understanding of the standard costing system and assist in reviewing production variances to ensure accuracy and reasonableness.
- Collaborate in year-end audit processes, preparing and providing supporting documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Take initiative in pursuing feedback and contributing to continuous improvement within the finance function.
- Communicate clearly and proactively, identifying opportunities for process improvement and seeking guidance when needed.
- 3+ years experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment; food or beverage manufacturing experience is a plus
- CPA designation or nearing completion is strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) is required, and will be assessed.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, including a willingness to share ideas, ask questions, and suggest improvements.
- Flexibility to accommodate a dynamic work schedule, competing priorities/tight deadlines, and to commute to two locations as business needs dictate.
