We are seeking Investment Specialists/Financial Planners within the Greater Toronto Area for future opportunities on our Wealth team. Candidates should have obtained their CSC, CPH, and WME certifications to meet the proficiency requirements for becoming registered with a CIRO Investment Dealer firm.

Role Overview

As an Investment Specialist (IS) / Financial Planner (FP), you will take a proactive approach to help our Members achieve their personal financial goals. You will recommend customized strategies for investments, education, retirement & estate planning, risk management, and basic tax issues. You will build trust and relationships with Members, leveraging internal partners to provide a holistic financial strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Impact
    • Conduct discovery meetings to support well‑informed recommendations, ensuring Members achieve their financial goals.
    • Collaborate with the Regional Vice President, Wealth, Senior Practice Management Coach, and other licensed professionals to establish a business plan and achieve sales and profitability targets.
    • Grow wealth penetration rates within partner branches through internal and external new Member business development activities.
  • Sales & Service
    • Use a thorough discovery process to anticipate Member needs and provide relevant plans.
    • Regularly review Member objectives, adjusting plans for life or economic changes.
    • Educate Members on investment options, costs, and risks, delivering trusted financial advice.
    • Balance asset acquisition with liquidity needs to meet day‑to‑day expenses.
    • Strive to bring Members’ full financial services portfolio to Meridian, increasing share of wallet.
    • Maintain current knowledge of key wealth and retail banking products.
    • Prepare investment performance reports, financial summaries, and income projections.
    • Take ownership of problems and actions, balancing the best interests of Meridian and its Members.
    • Leverage internal resources to identify new prospects in partnership with branch leaders.
  • Leadership
    • Consult with branch management and staff on technical, process, or product related matters.
    • Coach and mentor other Meridian Advisors to build capability.
    • Facilitate discussion and resolve complex problems, finding creative wealth‑management solutions.
    • Represent Meridian in the community, embodying Meridian values.
    • Champion seminars and workshops on retirement, estate, and other planning topics.
    • Promote a member‑focus culture within the team.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of financial services experience with broad advising in the industry.
  • CSC, CPH, and WME certifications (completed or near completion).
  • Progress towards or attainment of PFP or CFP required.
  • Additional designations such as CIM, TEP considered an asset and may be required.
  • Fulfillment of regulatory requirements to maintain all necessary securities registrations.
  • Strong business builder, sourcing new business internally and externally.
  • Current in‑depth knowledge of the investment and wealth‑management industry, related products, risk management, tax strategies, estate & trust planning, and retirement planning concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate value proposition and conduct discovery conversations.
  • Proven business development techniques and networking skills.
  • Strong time‑management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with basic software tools for contact management, investments, education, and retirement planning.
  • Ability to travel inter‑branch within the designated region and schedule flexibility.
Salary range

CAD $71,000 – $85,000 annually. Compensation is based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
