Head, Financial Planning and Analysis
Location:
Downtown Toronto (primarily in office)
Our client is a well-established and highly respected organization within the financial services sector.
The Head of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for advancing the company’s financial strategy and operational excellence. This role leads enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis, delivering insights that inform executive decision-making and resource allocation.
With deep financial acumen, strategic foresight, and a collaborative mindset, the Head of FP&A acts as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and cross-functional partners. The incumbent translates complex financial data into actionable insights that drive long-term value creation and supports the attainment of strategic priorities.
Responsibilities- Lead the integration of cost management into strategic planning, ensuring business leaders have actionable insights.
- Oversee/lead financial modeling, forecasting, and performance analysis across the enterprise.
- Develop and maintain KPIs and dashboards to monitor and improve business outcomes.
- Enhance financial systems and tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Workday) to support automation and real-time analytics.
- Shape executive decision-making by delivering compelling financial narratives and strategic recommendations to senior leadership, clients, and the Board.
- Promote cost efficiency and financial discipline to improve budgeting and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure transparency in cost allocation and financial reporting.
- Lead the development of annual budgets, multi-year financial plans, and rolling forecasts.
- Translate benchmarking insights into strategic recommendations that inform capital allocation, cost optimization, and long-term planning.
- Manage cost allocation process and client reporting, including education on financial metrics.
- Lead and develop a team of four FP&A professionals, fostering cross-functional collaboration with investments and other corporate functions to drive enterprise-wide financial excellence.

Builds strong relationships across business and functions (e.g., investment teams operations, HR, IT). Acts as a trusted advisor to business leaders. Influences decisions through data-driven storytelling and credibility. - Communication
:
Communicates complex financial concepts clearly to non-finance stakeholders. Tailors messaging to different audiences (executives, managers, clients). Facilitates discussions that lead to informed decisions. - Transformational Leadership
:
Anticipates risks and opportunities before they materialize. Identifies inefficiencies and proposes solutions. Champions financial transformation initiatives, including automation, predictive analytics, and process redesign to elevate financial agility.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with at least two years in a managerial role.
- Experience in asset management or financial services.
- Superior communication and relationship building skills.
- Proven ability to present complex financial information to varied audiences.
- Demonstrated success in managing internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in corporate finance applications (Workday and Adaptive Insights) and business applications (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Relevant educational qualifications including an MBA or accounting designation and possibly a CFA.
