Reporting to the Director, Private Equity & Infrastructure, Valuations, Investment Operations, the Senior Analyst will review and evaluate annual Private Equity, Private Credit, and Infrastructure valuations prepared by Investment Management, communicating any concerns to the Director. The role ensures that indirect investments through limited partnerships are appropriately valued in HOOPP’s financials and provides operational support as needed.
What You Will Do- Assist with the Private Equity, Private Credit, and Infrastructure valuation review process, including reviewing investment valuation memorandums, preparing independent valuation models, and performing independent valuation analyses and research.
- Document analyses in valuation dashboards and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
- Initiate discussions with Investment Management staff to examine differences, gather additional information, and escalates issues to the Director.
- Assist the Director with onboarding new investments into the valuation process, including understanding new deal structures, reviewing legal documents, and setting up new valuation models.
- Support ongoing monitoring of existing investments, tracking financial metrics, reviewing investee MD&A, and staying current on the investment life cycle.
- Review quarterly Limited Partner reports to ensure fair values for HOOPP’s co‑investments are reasonable and supportable.
- Gather relevant valuation metrics to populate a knowledge database related to GP disclosures.
- Assist the Director in establishing best practices, implementing process improvements, and developing standardized valuation models and reporting.
- Stay abreast of valuation standards (CICBV), fair value standards (IFRS, IPEV), technical valuation approaches for various asset classes, and the application of Black‑Scholes option pricing.
- Assist with effective implementation and maintenance of financial control systems for Private Equity, Private Credit, and Infrastructure investments.
- Assist in the external audit process, preparing working papers and documentation, and responding to auditor queries.
- Prepare financial statements for US and Canadian holding companies, ensuring proper recording in the sub‑ledger.
- Respond to queries from Investment Management and provide requested materials and analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year‑end reporting requirements as needed.
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, or related discipline
- Professional designation such as CPA and CBV required (candidate may be enrolled and working through the process)
- 3–5 years of experience in business valuation, focusing on private equity, private credit, or infrastructure
- Experience using Capital IQ required
- Experience with Black‑Scholes option pricing an asset
- Strong research, financial modeling, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with Investment Management staff and external fund managers
- Ability to respond to queries on numerous topics effectively and promptly
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
- Ability to remain agile to changes in timelines and workflow
- Proactive self‑starter, highly motivated and results‑oriented
