The Validus Global Capital Markets team executes close to half a trillion dollars in derivatives transactions annually across FX, Rates, Equity and Commodity markets. Our clients include many of the largest and most prestigious institutional investors across private equity, credit and real asset markets.
About the Capital Markets Function at Validus:
Based in Toronto (North America) and London (Europe), the Capital Markets function provides specialist front, middle and back office outsourced services for our client base of private capital managers, institutional investors and corporate clients.
This involves:
- Establishing trading infrastructure (trading lines, ISDA agreements) with investment banks and other counter parties
- Executing derivative trades (as agent) on behalf of clients
- Communicating and coordinating hedging activity with clients
- Ensuring best execution across a variety of derivatives (FX, Interest Rates, Commodities, futures)
- Managing and developing strong relationships with clients and across our global banking panel of >50 banks
- Proactively working with clients and Validus colleagues to optimize hedging portfolios
- Designing and presenting hedging solutions to internal and external clients
- Pricing and trade execution of FX spot, forwards, swaps, and options via our various execution channels
- Pricing and trade execution of interest rate swaps, caps and swaptions via our various execution channels
- Monitoring of client positions using our bespoke Risk View technology
- Communicating market insights to clients and hosting periodic calls
- All facets of the trade execution process including, but not limited to;
- Monitoring FX and rates markets to proactively assist our clients with the risk management of their exposures
- Execution of exchange‑traded futures
- Ensuring client best execution and trading processes are adhered to in every transaction
- Managing client relationships
- Managing counter party relationships (banks, dealers)
- Provide training and support to junior team members
- Carrying out adhoc project work and any other ancillary task as assigned by the Department Head
- 5+ years of professional training experience in the FX markets focused on providing hedging support to corporate or institutional clients
- Experience with electronic trading systems (FXall, FXConnect, Bloomberg)
- Postgraduate/undergraduate degree in a quantitative subject (e.g. finance, economics, engineering, math, statistics)
- Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
- Deep knowledge of FX markets and macro drivers
- Excellent attention to detail
- A desire to work in a very entrepreneurial environment, where we are constantly looking for ways to improve
- Validus assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $110,000 and $125,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualised basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the Validus total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include, generous bonus, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
