MISSION
The Manager, Finance & Accounting is responsible for leading a team of Finance and Accounting professionals and managing day-to-day financial operations, including banking, sales audit, accounts receivable, sales tax, and financial reporting and general accounting that aligns with IFRS requirements.
This position will be directly involved in executing strategies that will allow for future growth and efficiencies within the finance team and beyond. The successful candidate will be a key business partner who collaborates with other areas of the business to support financial reporting, analysis, and key cross-functional projects.
KEY PERFORMANCE METRICS
Timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basisEnsuring compliance with internal controls across the businessIdentifying and driving efficiencies within the accounting teamFostering a healthy coaching and mentoring environmentAbility to develop and execute on process improvements that drive accuracy and efficiencyTimely response to internal queries for information and/or assistanceKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Functional
Manage the overall accounting functional areas on a day-to-day basisChallenge the status quo and consistently identify areas for improvement by diagnosing issues and working to resolve themChampion continuous improvement projects to better position the accounting department for the strategic growth of the business, including through the responsible application of new and emerging technologiesAct as an internal consultant by providing user-friendly financial expertise to other functional areas of the BusinessIdentify opportunities in cash management while processing payments in a timely manner to maintain strong relationships with vendorsBuild and maintain good relationships with financial institutionsEnsure timely, and accurate period, quarter, and fiscal year close processes:
Prepare and review month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supplementary financial reports
Support the presentation of financial results to senior management, providing insightful and timely analysis on results when compared to plan and prior year in partnership with the Financial Planning and Analysis team Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure variances from plan are documented and understoodAssist with annual budgets and forecastsAct as a key liaison and accounting contact with all external auditorsCollaborate with Internal Audit to develop, document, and maintain a strong internal control environmentReview and process various sales tax filings while administering payments by due datesDevelop accounting policies and support the accounting team with the interpretation of complex technical issuesAd-hoc requests and projects, as assignedAct as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all…
