As an AML Investigator, you will safeguard RBC’s Wealth Management business in Canada by managing financial crime risks, including money laundering, terrorist financing, economic sanctions violations, and bribery/corruption. Your core responsibility will be to conduct risk‑based investigations through gathering, analysis, and evaluation of relevant information to determine whether sufficient suspicion exists of money laundering, financing of terrorism, or other criminal activities.

This process will guide decisions on whether to file reports with regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with legislative/regulatory requirements and mitigating risks to RBC. You will collaborate across teams to uphold adherence to Canadian laws and industry standards.

What will you do?

  • Investigate escalations from transaction monitoring alerts, name screening alerts, internal suspicion reports, and other referrals.
  • Gather, analyze, and evaluate transactional, client, and third‑party data to assess financial crime risks.
  • Determine if findings warrant regulatory reporting or internal escalation, aligning with RBC policies and legal obligations.
  • Maintain accurate records of investigative actions, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protection protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Global AML FIU Investigation Team, internal units, and external stakeholders to meet timelines and elevate issues per policy.
  • Support management reporting to enhance RBC’s Financial Crime framework and inform Senior Management/regulators.
  • Provide guidance to team members on AML/CTF trends, risks, and regulatory expectations.
  • Assist the Team Manager in implementing training programs and fostering a culture of compliance.
  • Contribute to AML projects and initiatives to strengthen efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Uphold RBC’s standards for Code of Conduct, data security, and professional development.

  • Good practical knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong analytical and investigation skills.
