Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Reporting

Our manufacturing client in Scarborough is looking to add a Controller to the team. The ideal candidate has their CPA designation and has experience completing corporate year ends and tax returns and implementing and monitoring financial controls. This is an on-site position.

• Responsible for the financial control and reporting framework of two companies as well as leading an accounting department of 3-5 people
• Full cycle accounting including month-end and year-end processes, journal entries, bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations
• Oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury and inventory
• Develop and refine reporting processes to ensure timely strategic information for management decision making
• Implement and closely monitor internal control policies, procedures and processes
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
• Prepare annual and quarterly budgets and track results to budgets
• Review intercompany transactions and reconcile the accounts
• Manage cash flow and capital spending
• Manage tax filing processes to ensure compliance with corporate tax, HST and other government reconciliations and remittances
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed by all staff and that all transactions are correctly reflected in the accounts
• Manage and coach finance and accounting team members across both companies
• Prepare and circulate key financial results
• Manage payroll systems
• Analyze business results and make recommendations to improve our businesses

• University degree in Accounting/Finance
• CPA in good standing
• 5+ years accounting experience (at least 3 years in a corporate accounting environment)
• Strong knowledge and focus on internal controls and compliance
• Strong knowledge of Canadian tax and experience preparing and filings corporate tax returns.
