Role overviewThe Managing Director, Enterprise Risk plays a senior leadership role within the Enterprise Risk function, with a primary focus on technology and operational risks across CPP Investments. The role operates with shared senior accountability, collaboration and collective leadership for the overall mandate, culture, and effectiveness of the function. Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Risk, this role is instrumental in providing independent oversight, constructive challenge, and strategic partnership to stakeholders across the organization, while contributing to enterprise-wide risk governance, management, and decision-making.
Enterprise Risk provides independent risk governance and constructive challenge while delivering integrated, forward-looking risk insights that enhance decision-making and improve enterprise and investment outcomes across CPP Investments. The group advances this mandate by focusing on material enterprise-wide and transversal risks, integrating operational, enterprise and investment perspectives.
Job DescriptionAccountabilities
- Act as a senior leader within Enterprise Risk, sharing accountability for strategy, priorities, and culture.
- Contribute to enterprise risk strategy, frameworks, taxonomy, appetite, and reporting, with emphasis on technology, cyber, data and operational risks.
- Lead independent oversight and challenge of technology, cyber, data, and operational risks.
- Partner with Technology, Operations, and other stakeholders to support effective, balanced and well-calibrated risk and control design while maintaining second-line independence.
- Oversee identification, monitoring, and reporting of key and emerging risks with emphasis on technology and operational risks.
- Play a leadership role advancing the use of new technology and tools to advance effective risk management and delivery of the Enterprise Risk function
- Support robust Management and Board risk governance through clear, decision-relevant reporting.
- Advise senior leaders on risk trends, control effectiveness, and mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with partners across Risk, Assurance & Advisory, Legal, and other stakeholders with risk oversight roles to deliver integrated risk oversight.
- Play a key leadership role in managing and developing a diverse team, fostering an inclusive, high-performance, and partnership-oriented culture.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, technology, or other relevant field; graduate degree and relevant professional certifications are assets.
