About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an Interim Senior Manager, Investment Finance to step into a key leadership role supporting a global private markets investment platform. Reporting into senior investment finance leadership, you will oversee a team responsible for investment accounting, middle-office support, and end-to-end reporting for venture and other private capital strategies.

In this role, you will lead a seasoned team (manager, analyst, and co-op) that partners closely with deal, valuations, legal, tax, and compliance teams on a high volume of complex transactions. You will join at a pivotal time as the organization implements a new investment accounting system and navigates a demanding audit and reporting cycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on leader with private equity or asset management experience to influence processes, ensure the integrity of investment data, and support strategic decision‑making in a sophisticated, global investment environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead month‑end close activities for assigned private capital and venture portfolios, ensuring books are closed within four business days.
  • Oversee reconciliations, internal reporting to corporate finance, and consolidated reporting for the ventures portfolio and broader private capital platform.
  • Manage day‑to‑day middle‑office activities, including review and support of investment transactions and ad hoc deal‑related requests.
  • Interact closely with valuations, legal, tax, compliance, and deal teams to support acquisitions, funding of investments, and other transactions.
  • Oversee cash management activities, including monitoring liquidity, coordinating capital calls, and managing cash flows for external limited partners.
  • Prepare and/or review carried interest calculations and related analyses.
  • Support quarter‑end reporting requirements and contribute to financial reports and analysis for senior leadership.
  • Lead the preparation of tax‑related financial information for filings due in May and support audit deliverables up to the March 31 year‑end.
  • Maintain and enhance financial controls, processes, and documentation related to investment accounting and middle‑office activities.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and day‑to‑day direction to a team of three, ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and strong performance.
  • Utilize E-Front and other systems to support accurate investment accounting, data integrity, and reporting as the platform moves toward go‑live.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency within the investment finance and middle‑office function.
What You Bring
  • Professional accounting or finance designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
  • Approximately 8+ years of progressive experience in investment finance, accounting, or a closely related field, including at least 2 years in a people leadership role.
  • Experience in private equity, venture capital, or asset management, with exposure to complex and illiquid investments.
  • Strong knowledge of investment accounting, financial reporting, and IFRS; experience with fair value measurement and pension or institutional investment environments is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high‑performing finance teams, including overseeing direct reports with established tenure and strong personalities.
  • Proven middle‑office experience, including working closely with deal teams, reviewing financial models, tracking capital calls and distributions, and supporting regulatory or investor reporting.
  • Comfort operating in a fast‑paced, project‑heavy environment where the team is stretched due to system implementations and competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams (valuations, legal, tax, compliance, risk, and investment professionals).
  • Experience with investment systems such as E-Front or similar platforms…
