Portfolio Manager

Our client, a highly respected Canadian firm specializing in investment management and multi-family office services, is seeking a Portfolio Manager or Associate Portfolio Manager (depending on registration status) with direct client relationship management experience. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor, delivering comprehensive wealth planning and investment management solutions to support clients in achieving their unique financial goals.
As the firm’s primary point of contact for clients, the successful incumbent will be responsible for developing and managing both new and existing client relationships. The role involves providing strategic guidance across a broad range of wealth management areas, including estate planning, tax and compensation planning, corporate structuring, retirement planning, risk management and insurance, and investment management.

Responsibilities- Work closely with private clients and high-net-worth families, leading with comprehensive planning to identify investment objectives and constraints, and develop an optimal target portfolio mix
- Manage client portfolios, including ongoing monitoring and rebalancing to align with client goals, target allocations, and return objectives
- Oversee custodial accounts and coordinate the execution of trades
- Conduct regular portfolio review meetings with clients
- Collaborate and coordinate with clients’ accountants, lawyers, and other professional advisors
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and address issues in a proactive, solutions-oriented manner
- Deliver exceptional client service while cultivating meaningful, long-term relationships built on trust and a deep understanding of each client’s goals and aspirations
- Provide mentorship and guidance to associates and collaborate closely with the firm’s private client and family office teams
- Act as a trusted ambassador of the firm, actively promoting our brand across the financial market and broader community, while identifying and cultivating new business opportunities
- Maintain a strong compliance-focused and team-oriented mindset
- Stay current on financial markets and economic developments relevant to clients
- Promote the firm’s thought leadership within professional and client networks
- Must be in good standing as an Associate Advising Representative or Advising Representative with the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC)
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a business-related field preferred
Professional designations such as CFA, CIM, TEP, or CAIA are considered an asset - Knowledge of alternative investments is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Investment Advisor or Associate Investment Advisor with high-net-worth individuals and families
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong client service orientation and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Demonstrated networking and relationship-building capabilities
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
