PRESTO is an electronic transit fare payment system in the Greater Toronto, Hamilton and Ottawa areas that eliminates the need for tickets, passes and cash. PRESTO serves more than 5 million customers across 11 transit agencies and processes over $2.5 billion in fares through 67 million boardings per month (pre-pandemic). Today, PRESTO offers one of the most globally advanced fare payment systems in the world having delivered new ways to pay for customers, including real time PRESTO Contactless with credit and Interac debit and PRESTO in Mobile Wallet across its transit agency clients, including the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).

Our Payments (PRESTO) Finance Operations Department is seeking a Financial Operations Analyst, reporting to the Assistant Manager, Financial Reconciliations. This position performs a variety of tasks to support the Payments (PRESTO) Finance Operations’ Reconciliation and Exceptions team, including general ledger account reconciliation, exception transaction analysis and settlement, month-end/year-end closing activities, and ad-hoc financial analysis.

What will I be doing?

• Perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation and control points, to ensure funds are balanced and settled with customer and transit agencies accurately; create general ledger adjustments or manual settlements as required.
• Participate in month-end and year-end activities including General Ledger account reconciliation, financial reports reconciliation and journal entries preparation.
• Analyze, investigate, uncover and resolve process exceptions, out-of-balance situations, and other operational finance incidents, as required and follow up to ensure timely and accurate resolution of the exceptions.
• Analyze and/or reconcile various internal and external reports to ensure the completeness and integrity of the integrated reports (e.g., data extracts, financial system reports, third party reports).
• Collaborate and interact with internal and/or external business partners and transit agencies, including regular reporting, and responding to inquiries and information requests.
• Ensure financial processes and reconciliations are aligned with established procedures and controls and providing recommendations for improvements.

Support annual audit by providing samples/evidence by the deadline upon request.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

• Completion of a diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline or any combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
• Designated as or pursuing a designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or related accreditation would be considered an asset.
