Global Banking & Markets provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include debt and equity financing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, fixed income products, derivatives, energy, foreign exchange and precious & metals. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by the Scotiabank Group.

Equity Research Analysts play an integral role in the Global Banking & Markets division by providing in-depth research and analysis on publicly traded companies within the Metals & Mining sector, with a focus on Precious Metals, while identifying key industry themes and investment trends.

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
• Conduct in-depth industry analysis and research using industry and financial sources
• Perform comprehensive financial statement analysis and create and maintain financial models
• Provide investment recommendations on publicly traded companies
• Write fundamental research publications with value-added perspectives & differentiated views
• Deliver presentations to institutional clients and the internal sales & trading teams
• Follow overall market news and evaluate market data to assess short and long-term trends
• Collect, consolidate and interpret company and industry data
• Develop and maintain connections with investor relations and management of companies under coverage group
• Liaise with sales, trading and other areas of the firm within regulatory guidelines
• Manage, mentor & coach zero to two Research Associates

• A university degree in business, engineering or a relevant discipline is required
• An MBA, Masters of Finance degree, CPA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation can be an asset.
• Work experience in a relevant sector or in the capital markets in a financial, analytical, corporate development or M&A capacity is required
• Capital Markets knowledge is required
• Strong accounting, financial modeling, analytical and writing skills
• Strong presentation and verbal communication skills
• Good business judgment and decision-making skills
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines
• Demonstrated aptitude for marketing and selling

This position is currently an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work 5 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change…
