Join the Indigenous Relationships & Health Policy Unit of the Ministry of Health and provide your expertise (including lived experience) in leading health system strategy and policy initiatives to improve the health outcomes of Indigenous populations in Ontario, including advancing First Nations Health Transformation and other Indigenous health system governance initiatives.

About the job
In this role, you will:

Play a key role in advancing innovative strategic health policies through policy research, analysis, development and evaluation on a broad range of health and health system issues, with a particular focus on advancing Indigenous health priorities across the province.

Develop, build and maintain partnerships and linkages with internal and external partners with an emphasis on Indigenous communities/partners and health service providers.

Provide leadership to project teams on concurrent policy development projects.

Prepare a variety of correspondence and presentations for senior management.

What you bring to the team
Strategic Policy & Program Expertise
You have:

Experience developing and evaluating strategies, legislation, and policy frameworks.

Knowledge of performance measurement to support policy and program evaluation.

The ability to work effectively with Indigenous partners using co‑development approaches.

Project Management & Relationship Building
You have:

The ability to lead multiple policy projects, manage timelines, and balance priorities.

Strong negotiation and issue resolution skills.

The ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues, Indigenous communities, and other health partners.

Research, Analysis & Conceptual Thinking
You have:

Strong research and analytical skills.

An understanding of health system issues, including Indigenous health priorities.

The ability to interpret government priorities and legislative processes.

Skills in identifying underlying issues and developing innovative solutions.

Communication & Presentation
You have:

The ability to prepare clear, compelling analyses, briefing materials, and submissions.

Strong presentation skills to communicate policy initiatives to sector partners and ministry leadership.

The ability to synthesize complex information into concise, accessible materials.

What we offer
The Indigenous Relationships & Health Policy Unit (IRHPU) works with First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and urban Indigenous partners/communities and other government partners to improve the health outcomes of Indigenous people in Ontario. The IRHPU analyses emerging issues and trends, identifies leading practices and applies them in the health system in collaboration with partners. In addition, the IRHPU provides stewardship to the Indigenous health sector by building and fostering productive relationships and also advises and supports ministry partners in connecting with First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous communities and partners.

A key priority for the IRHPU is leading the design and implementation of the provincial approach to First Nations Health Transformation, enhancing Indigenous voices in MOH initiatives, and co‑developing initiatives that respond to the unique needs of Indigenous communities.
