Position Overview

CDEV is seeking an Associate, Policy & Public Affairs to join its high-performing team of experienced professionals.

The Associate will support CDEV’s policy advisory and government engagement function by conducting analysis, preparing briefing materials, and coordinating stakeholder engagement activities.

This role contributes to monitoring legislative, regulatory, and political developments and assessing their implications for CDEV and its Group of Companies. The Associate will also support the development of policy advice, stakeholder insights, and engagement strategies to ensure senior leadership is equipped with timely, accurate, and actionable information.

Operating within a federal Crown corporation context, the Associate strengthens internal coordination, policy intelligence, and execution of policy and public affairs activities while maintaining a strictly non-partisan approach.

The selected candidate will be based in Ottawa, currently with a hybrid work option.

Responsibilities
  • Policy Analysis & Intelligence: Monitor, analyze, and synthesize legislative, regulatory, and policy developments to provide strategic insights and forward-looking analysis that support CDEV’s mandate and priorities.
  • Briefings & Executive Support: Provide executive support through the preparation of briefings, presentation, and stakeholder engagement materials, while maintaining policy tracking and ensuring timely information flow to inform decision-making.
  • Government & Stakeholder Engagement Support: Support government and stakeholder engagement activities by coordinating consultations, preparing engagement materials and stakeholder analyses, tracking feedback, risks, and opportunities across key relationships.
  • Internal Coordination & Policy Integration: Foster internal coordination and policy integration by engaging cross-functional teams, incorporating policy considerations into corporate initiatives and advisory work, and supporting knowledge-sharing, tools, and best practices.
  • Reputational Awareness & Strategic Support: Support strategic analysis and institutional positioning by identifying reputational risks, aligning policy and communications considerations, and providing insights on emerging policy and stakeholder developments.
Required Skills and Attributes
  • Graduate degree in Public Policy, Economics, Political Science, Law, Business, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in public policy, government, consulting, financial institutions, or a Crown corporation
  • Experience conducting policy research and analysis
