Position: HOUSING DEVELOPMENT INTERN (CMHC INDIGENOUS YOUTH HOUSING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM)

THE OPPORTUNITY

CreateTO is seeking two interns to support housing and city-building initiatives across the organization during the summer term. Interns will gain exposure to public sector real estate development, infrastructure planning, and the delivery of affordable and supportive housing projects within a municipal environment.

This internship opportunity is being offered through the CMHC Indigenous Youth Housing Internship Program and is intended for Indigenous youth (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) who are 30 years of age and under.

Reporting to project team leaders within Development, Construction & Environment, and/or Port Lands, interns will support planning, coordination, research, and project delivery activities across a range of active initiatives.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support planning and coordination activities related to housing, infrastructure, and city-building projects
  • Assist with utility coordination activities for affordable and supportive housing developments, including 1113–1117 Dundas St W and Dunn House Phase 2
  • Support projects within the Toronto Port Lands, including infrastructure initiatives that enable future housing development
  • Participate in project coordination and tracking activities
  • Assist with construction oversight and attend site visits, where appropriate
  • Support document management and project file organization
  • Conduct property and title research
  • Prepare meeting minutes and assist with presentation and briefing materials
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization
CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • Indigenous youth (First Nations, Inuit, or Métis)
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary studies in urban planning, engineering, architecture, construction management, geography, public administration, real estate, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Interest in housing, infrastructure, city-building, and public sector work
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications considered an asset

This position offers a rate of $22.00 per hour.
