Looking for a rewarding career where you can share your experience as a Peace Officer? The Legislative Protective Services Branch (LPS) is looking for experienced Police Officers to join our team of armed Peace Officers. As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to a Sergeant, Operations, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of Officers and Sergeants.

What You’ll Do
  • Act in conformity with the law and established policies.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism by exhibiting tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in your daily interactions with Members of Provincial Parliament, the media, visiting dignitaries, and the public.
You’ll Support Our Collaboration
  • Carry out your duties as a Peace Officer in accordance with legislation and Service standards.
  • Apply the principles of bias‑free law enforcement.
  • Conduct general patrols and control access within the Legislative Precinct.
  • Respond to calls for Service (e.g., criminal activity, security breaches, medical emergencies, potential threats).
  • Maintain a safe environment in the Legislative Precinct by exercising police authority, enforcing laws, and conducting investigations.
  • Prepare and submit timely and complete reports concerning investigations and Service activities.
How You Qualify
  • Minimum secondary school (high school) diploma or post‑secondary education.
  • Past training and police experience.
  • Possession of a Class G licence.
  • Fit for duty, with physical and mental ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • A Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
  • Successful completion of the 16‑week Basic training program.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
Eligibility for Canadian Police Experience
  • Current or previous service with a Canadian Police Service within the last 4 years.
  • Proof of completing the probationary period with the current police service.
  • Proof of an Accredited Police College transcript.
  • Record of discipline (formal and informal).
  • Record of any on‑duty motor vehicle collisions.
  • Record of awards, letters of commendation, or appreciation.
  • Two letters of reference from the Police Service.
  • Member in good standing with their Police Service, with no outstanding or prior disciplinary actions or charges.

Your work will cover rotational shifts, 40 hours per week, in a 24‑hour, seven‑day‑a‑week operation.

Successful candidates must complete the BPAD/PIN test on‑site, an interview, and an extensive background check, including a police reference check. Candidates who advance to the mandatory screening stage must also successfully pass the LPS firearms qualification shooting tests.

Salary
  • 6‑week EPO training Program start wage PO Cadet: $70,339
  • After successful graduation, move to PO Step 3 wage band: $104,376
  • Any change to salary will be governed by the Assembly’s salary administration policies (PO Step 4: $120,730)
