City of Toronto has released a notification in which they’re inviting candidates for the post of Policy Development Officer Ssha. In this post candidates will maintain an awareness of social, economic and political issues and trends and provide information. They will implement policy and program through communication messages. They are developing and implementing accountability frameworks, developing and delivering training programs for staff.

They develop policies, strategies and program recommendations to improve and better coordinate services for people. They lead strategic policy development, policy analysis, research and program development processes.

  • Candidates will provide expertise and strategic advice to staff, management, senior management.
  • They are developing strategic and operational policies, strategies and programs for the homelessness service delivery system.
  • Candidates will enhance services for people experiencing homelessness.
  • They provide strategic advice and policy leadership for homelessness service delivery system.
  • Candidates lead the implementation of the actions in Meeting in the Middle.
  • They will support the effective administration of programs by drafting program documents and other communications.
Job requirement
  • Candidates must have experience as a First Nations, Inuit or Métis person, and experience working with Indigenous peoples.
  • They must have post-secondary education in public administration, public policy and social science.
  • They must have experience in project management to effectively meet deadlines.
  • They must have experience in community engagement.
  • They must have knowledge of policies affecting homelessness, housing and shelter services as an asset.
  • They must have experience in writing comprehensive complex and formal reports.
Work setting
  • Candidates must have experience in strategy development, planning, and policy analysis and development.
  • They must have excellent written communication skills and oral communication skills.
  • They must have the ability to work independently as well as organize.
  • They must have the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex policy.
