As a senior regulatory affairs advisor reporting to the Director, Regulatory Affairs, you provide expert advice to the business sectors and support functions within your area of responsibility. You coordinate and support collaborators in their interactions with regulators, anticipate regulatory and prudential issues, as well as assess and manage organizational risks to ensure informed decision-making and the achievement of strategic objectives.
More specifically, you will be required to:
Monitor regulatory, prudential and sector developments as well as peer practices, to anticipate issues and opportunities, assess their impact on the organization, and coordinate Desjardins’s positions and actions as part of regulatory consultations
Advise and support sectors and partners in planning and carrying out regulatory activities, coordinate strategic initiatives and interactions with regulators, and promote a shared understanding of regulatory expectations and a consistent management of issues
Identify and analyze regulatory, prudential and sector issues, make strategic recommendations, and support collaborators in their interactions with regulators to ensure consistent representations and the achievement of organizational goals
Develop and enhance regulatory affairs governance frameworks, policies, standards, processes and tools to support a consistent approach to managing regulatory interactions and issues (for example, governance framework, policy and manual for managing regulatory authority issues)
Plan and facilitate meetings, synthesize key takeaways, and prepare documentation to clearly communicate analyses and recommendations
Represent your unit on committees involving senior management and decision-making bodies by providing a holistic, forward-looking view of the regulatory environment, interactions with regulators, emerging issues and initiatives under your responsibility, while providing appropriate reporting and accountability
Represent the organization in dealings with regulators, sector associations and other external partners on the regulatory matters under your responsibility
Make recommendations for the development and delivery of initiatives or projects with a very high degree of operational and conceptual complexity
Lead and influence internal and external collaborators, including subject matter experts and executives, on development projects and highly complex initiatives involving multiple sectors
Serve as a go-to person and coach for senior management and decision‑making bodies.

What You Bring To The Table Bachelor's degree in law, finance, accounting, administration, economics or a related field
A minimum of eight years of relevant experience
Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
Experience in and a strong understanding of the financial industry, the regulatory and prudential environment, and governance and risk management issues
