Role Description The Skilled Braider role is a full-time, on-site position based at our studio in Toronto, ON. The braider will perform a variety of braiding styles, such as box braids, knotless braids, cornrows, twists, and other protective styles, while ensuring neat, consistent work and client comfort. Daily responsibilities include consulting with clients about desired styles, hair care needs, and maintenance, preparing workstations, and maintaining clean tools and surfaces according to hygiene and safety standards.
The role involves managing appointment schedules, starting services on time, and providing professional, courteous service throughout each visit. The braider will also recommend appropriate hair care products, support a positive team environment, and contribute to the studio’s reputation for quality and reliability.
Qualifications
- Strong technical braiding skills, including experience with multiple styles (e.g., box braids, knotless braids, cornrows, twists, and other protective styles).
- Knowledge of hair types and textures, along with basic hair care and scalp health practices to ensure safe, comfortable services.
- Ability to consult with clients, listen carefully to style preferences, and communicate clearly about options, timing, and maintenance.
- Commitment to hygiene and safety, including proper sanitation of tools, workstations, and adherence to local health regulations.
- Reliability and time management skills to handle appointments, follow schedules, and work efficiently without compromising quality.
- Customer service mindset with a respectful, gender-neutral, and inclusive approach to all clients and colleagues.
- Capacity to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive hand movements while maintaining precision.
- Previous experience in a professional braiding or salon environment is strongly preferred; relevant training or certification in hair braiding or cosmetology is an asset.
- Willingness to learn new techniques, accept feedback, and support a cooperative, positive team atmosphere.
- Basic proficiency in English for client communication; additional languages are an advantage in serving a diverse clientele.
