Social Worker (Mental Health Services - Child & Adolescent Outpatient MH)

OverviewAs part of a multi‑disciplinary team, the Social Worker has primary therapist responsibilities providing assessment and brief, crisis‑oriented psychotherapy to children, adolescents and their families in the inpatient unit and the day program. The Social Worker participates in all aspects of program planning, treatment and discharge.
Education- Master of Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work, or equivalent degree, as recognized by the College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
- Must be a member of the College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers, or be a candidate for certification.
- 5 years recent experience working within child and adolescent mental health family care.
- Experience with children and adolescents in an acute crisis and/or suffering from a serious mental illness.
- Demonstrated recent experience with individual, family and group psychotherapy.
- Willingness to assist with intake and participate in the day treatment program.
- Experience with related acute/crisis interventions.
- Experience working with children and adolescents with histories of severe trauma, abuse and/or self‑harm.
- Experience providing psychoeducation around mental illness with children and families.
- Well‑developed family and group work intervention skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of related legislation.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health community resources.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and competency with diverse populations.
- Good work and attendance record required.
