We are looking for a Medical Science Liaison, Rare Disease to join our Canada Rare Disease Business Unit covering the Province of Ontario
About the role
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based Medical/Scientific expert who serves as a key scientific partner to healthcare providers/organizations, and internal UCB colleagues. As an MSL at UCB, you will be responsible for executing key medical strategies to enhance care and positively impact patients living with chronic neurologic and rare diseases.
What you’ll do
Maintains deep scientific knowledge in areas of Neurology & Rare Disease.Identifies, establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), clinical specialists, and researchers and conducts scientific exchanges in the specific areas of focusDelivers clinical value propositions and engages with key decision-maker stakeholders in medical groups, IDNs, and regional payersIdentifies and supports potential research expansion projects/collaborations, medical advisors, and educational partnership opportunitiesConducts local roundtables and learning programs, aligned with audience needs assessment, that aim to enhance Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) s and HCP’s understanding of unmet clinical needsOrganizes and supports regional consultancy activitiesServe as a scientific expert at key medical and scientific conferences, advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, and internal meetings.Supports and collaborates with field-based cross-functional teams to provide medical insights and expertiseReviews and critiques scientific publications to help inform healthcare trends in Neurology/Rare Disease specific areas of focusCollects, analyses, and communicates information concerning therapeutic area, treatment options, emerging standards of care, and competitive intelligenceProvides effective clinical presentations to internal and external audiences to meet specific audience needsLocally supports UCB clinical investigations, and assesses feasibility while serving as the primary liaison between UCB and investigator for unsolicited Investigator-Initiated Studies (IISs) from inception to publicationProvides field updates regarding topics of interest for creation and/or updating of Standard Response LettersOperates at the highest level of UCB compliance and professional standards.Inter

Required:
MSc Preferred:
Doctorate degree (Pharm
D, MD, DO, PhD or similar in a relevant field). Will consider Nurse Practitioner with experience in relevant therapeutic area.Prior track record of success as a Medical Science Liaison or related field Medical Affairs role required (3+ years experience strongly preferred)Neurology, Neuromuscular disease or Rare Disease experience strongly preferred (Neuromuscular Disease/Myasthenia Gravis experience is an asset.)Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settingsWell-developed interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong business acumen with a solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industryRegular travel required within region. Travel required to attend company meetings, conferences, etc. (including overnights and some weekends.)Valid Driver’s LicenseMust reside within the assigned business region (Greater Toronto Area preferred)This positions reasonably anticipated base salary range is $106,. The actual salary offered will take into account related knowledge, skills, experience and location among other factors and may fall outside the expected range.
