Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Counselling and Clinical Services (CCS) Manager, the CAPS Registered Nurse (CAPS RN) will work within the Clinical Services team to assure appropriate and effective patient care is provided for children, youth and their caregivers who receive psychiatry services from the CAPS program. The CAPS RN is responsible for carrying out duties as a member of the multi-disciplinary team with a focus on mental health needs of children and adolescents.
The CAPS RN will provide clinical input with respect to mental health and medical issues for complex, high needs clients. The CAPS RN reports to the CCS Manager and is responsible for providing psycho-educational counseling to individuals and liaising with community hospital physicians, specialists and other mental health providers.

Qualifications
- A Nursing degree from a recognized and accredited university/college.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Specialty certification in Mental Health/Psychiatric nursing.
- Demonstrated competence in team building, conflict management, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Significant experience in pediatrics, children and adolescent mental health and/or addictions.
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Search; including a Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours as determined by the CCS Manager or designate in relation to service delivery requirements.
- Must have a valid Class “G” Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle.
- Must possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate.
- Registered with RNAO and CNO.
