Description:
Your opportunity:Under close supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Social Perception and Cognition Lab, the Lab Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of research for various social cognitive studies focusing on how people process information about others and how doing so influences their behavior. Duties include but not limited to recruiting participants; preparing test materials, testing participants and collating data; scheduling and keeping track of participants’ appointments and compensation;
training research assistants etc. The Lab Coordinator is also responsible for general maintenance of the research lab; ensuring supplies are adequate and files/website are updated and backed up; programs are running properly and any other duties as required. This is a 50% FTE, Term role for 6 months.
- Proofing and posting adverts to recruit applicants
- Preparing consent forms using templates
- Following rules and procedural instructions when administering research studies
- Recording and tabulating experiment results
- Providing some care to prevent physical or emotional injury or harm
- Recording or verifying transactions on a single account
- Providing orientation to others on work procedures and practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, related field or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of recent and related experience working in a social perception psychology lab.
- Experience working with adults participating in research studies.
- Possess strong enthusiasm for research in cognitive development.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize work and meet multiple competing deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take initiative.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to make sound judgment and proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SPSS.
