• Provide supports and counseling to individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis, including daily living activities such as hygiene, budgeting, cooking, nutrition, social skills, community engagement, and goal achievement.
• Facilitate life skills programming, both in the home and community, to promote independent living.
• Provide community outings and escorts to enable safe participation in community activities.
• Manage challenging behaviors and crisis situations, employing positive behavior strategies and crisis intervention techniques.
• Attend to crisis situations using a variety of strategies, reinforcing positive behavior and collecting objective, accurate information before, during, and after incidents.
• Address or resolve issues consistently following applicable policies and procedures, including reinforcement principles and safe management techniques.
• Foster a safe and healthy work environment for residents and staff in accordance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Provide clerical, reception, and administrative support to the program; handle administrative, clerical, and facilities upkeep duties.

• Post‑secondary diploma/degree in Social Services field (e.g., BSW, BA, DSW, SSW).
• Strong knowledge of computer applications: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Valid First Aid/CPR and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certifications.
• Minimum two (2) years of recent work‑related experience in the Developmental Services sector, including:
• Working directly with individuals with developmental disability or dual diagnosis.
• Providing support and counseling, life skills facilitation, community supports, and safe management.
• Thorough understanding of the Social Inclusion Act and the Act for the Supports of Persons with Developmental Disabilities (2008).
• Working knowledge of the Developmental Services Sector.
• Knowledge of community resources, both internal and external.

• Individual and group facilitation skills that increase independence in individuals’ life skills.
• Assessment skills for service delivery, daily operational and programming issues, including risk determination for individuals served.
• Program planning skills to implement, evaluate, and modify programs.
• Effective crisis intervention skills to diffuse confrontational situations and work well under pressure.
• Written communication skills in English for clear, concise communication to varied audiences.
• Verbal communication skills in English, adapting to various communication levels.
• Demonstrated use of core competencies:
  • Flexibility – Recognizes when an approach isn’t working and changes it.
  • Change Influencer – Builds others’ interest into change messages.

Ability to communicate in French (verbally and written).
