Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Services

Job Description

As a member of the Pharmacy Operations team, reporting to the Manager of Inpatient Pharmacy Operations, a casual Pharmacy Technician will provide a variety of technical functions related to the preparation, dispensing and distribution of medication to inpatients and outpatient clinics utilizing a computerized distribution system.

• Unit‑dose dispensing and maintenance of ward stock.
• Delivery of medication to patients and outpatient clinics.
• Purchasing and inventory control activities.
• Compounding of pharmaceutical products.
• Monitoring usage and expiry dates.
• Maintaining storage conditions and pharmacy equipment.
• Auditing and reporting discrepancies.
• Outpatient dispensing as required.
• Supporting mentorship, risk management, patient safety and quality improvement activities.
• Performing independent double‑checking and additional duties as assigned.

• Registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Part A Pharmacy Technician.
• Previous experience in a hospital environment and with computerized pharmacy systems.
• Good knowledge of pharmacy practices and pharmacy mathematics.
• Effective organization and time‑management skills with a high degree of accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and patients.
• Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.

$33.76 – $38.89 per hour
