The Toronto Academic Pain Medicine Institute (TAPMI) at Women’s College Hospital is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Psychologist to provide individualized psychological assessment and treatment for patients living with chronic pain. TAPMI is a collaborative initiative between Women’s College Hospital, Mount Sinai, St. Michael’s Hospital, University Health Network, CAMH, and the University of Toronto to create access to resources for pain management.

TAPMI aims to improve the lives of those living with chronic pain working to develop, implement and evaluate innovations in clinical care. This Temporary Part-Time contract role provides an exciting opportunity to drive advancements in clinical practice.

• Maintain current accurate clinical records according to standards set by the College of Psychologists; document assessment results, goals, treatment, and client progress.
• Participate in developing and implementing policies regarding patient care and professional practice
• Provide individualized psychodiagnostic assessment for patients living with chronic pain, including patients with complex clinical presentations, trauma histories, significant emotional distress, and barriers to participation in treatment.
• Develop individualized psychological formulations that inform treatment planning and interdisciplinary care.
• Provide individualized therapy for psychological conditions related to chronic pain including (but not limited to) CBT, ACT
• Provide care using a trauma-informed, patient-centered approach that supports safety, trust, collaboration, and individualized treatment planning.
• Assist the interprofessional team in identifying psychological barriers to progress in treatment and assist in addressing emotionally driven barriers.
• Support patients with complex care needs who require individual-level psychological treatment beyond group-based education or self-management programming.
• Collaborate with other members of the health care team as needed.
• Collaborate with ongoing research initiatives, as needed.

• Ph.D. in Psychology required
• Registered member in good standing, in the area of clinical psychology, with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, required.
• A minimum of 5 years’ practice as a psychologist, experience in health psychology or pain management preferred
• Experience and knowledge of psychometric assessment, test interpretation, and psychological diagnosis
• Advanced training in psychological intervention and treatment, including development of psychotherapeutic intervention, treatment protocols and program evaluation
