Volunteer for Dementia Support Program

Join the mission of enhancing lives as a Volunteer for the Dementia Support Program at SPRINT Senior Care in Toronto. Engage with residents affected by Alzheimer's through enriching activities and companionship.

This volunteer role, based at Ewart Angus SPRINT Senior Care Homes, emphasizes direct interaction with residents to improve their social and emotional wellbeing. Working alongside staff, you will facilitate group activities and provide vital one-on-one visits, helping residents maintain their abilities in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate resident participation in group programs

• Prepare and tidy activity spaces before programs

• Participate in walks with residents when approved

• Visit residents one-on-one to reduce isolation

• Stay informed about dementia-related care

Requirements:

• Age 16 or older

• Valid Vulnerable Sector Screening completed

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to show understanding and patience

• Background in recreational activities preferred
