Job Position

We are seeking a Social Worker to join the interdisciplinary Communication, Learning and Behaviour (CLB) Program and Restrictive Eating Clinic teams. This is a temporary full‑time position (1.0 FTE) for 12 months consisting of 0.6 FTE within the CLB Program and 0.4 FTE within the Restrictive Eating Clinic.

The CLB Program provides autism diagnostic and follow‑up services for children and youth and their families. The Restrictive Eating Clinic provides interdisciplinary assessment and intervention services for children and youth with autism and complex restrictive eating and feeding challenges. This role will support children, youth and families through counselling, resource navigation, service coordination, and advocacy, while addressing barriers to participation in care and supporting caregiver well‑being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify family strengths, support needs, barriers to treatment engagement, and social determinants of health.
  • Provide individual and family counselling and psychotherapy (as needed) to support caregiver well‑being, family functioning, and participation in treatment.
  • Provide counselling and coaching to caregivers to enhance engagement in caregiver‑mediated intervention and support the implementation of treatment recommendations within the home environment.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify psychosocial factors that may contribute to feeding and restrictive eating challenges and address these factors.
  • Assess and address social determinants of health, including financial stressors, food insecurity, housing instability, access to services, caregiver mental health, and other factors that may affect treatment participation and outcomes.
  • Provide resource navigation and service coordination for families requiring community‑based supports and services.
  • Support transition planning including facilitating connections to community‑based health, developmental, and social service providers.
