Reporting to the Manager, Infection Control & Infectious Diseases, this position participates in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the city-wide Communicable Disease Liaison Unit (CDLU) program.

Job Responsibilities:

Supervises frontline staff (e.g., Public Health Inspectors, Public Health Nurses, Support Assistants,)andprovidesongoingconsultation,directionandguidancetostaffrelatedto assigned work.

Supervisestheday-to-dayoperationofallassignedstaffincludingthescheduling,assigning and reviewing of work. Authorizes and coordinates vacation and overtime requests. Monitors and evaluates staff performance, approves salary increments, and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.

Motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork,high standards of work qualityandorganizationalperformance,continuouslearningandencouragesinnovationinothers.

Providesinputintoprogramplanning,implementationandevaluation.

Develops and implements detailed project plans and policies/procedures aligned with program specific requirements which are compliant with relevant legislation and divisional policies and procedures (e.g., Health Protection and Promotion Act, Laboratory Specimen Collection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA)
Public Health Information Privacy Act (PHIPA),Ontario Human Rights Code, Ontario Public Health Standards, etc.).

Provides expert guidance as required to internal (e.g., other TPH programs, emergency medical services) and external (e.g., CDLU facilities, schools, federal and provincial governments and cultural communities) stakeholders and individuals (e.g., physicians, infection and control practitioners)

Establishes networks and liaises with staff/management from other programs, community agencies and governments to negotiate/coordinate service partnerships, advocate for program needs and share expertise, in consultation with the manager.

Maintains knowledge of the communicable disease database, and ensures data entry is accurate for statistical analysis and interpretation.

Takes on call responsibilities as assigned for the Communicable Disease Control Programs, including supervision of investigators, seeking guidance from associate medical officers of health on call, during evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

Yourapplicationmustdescribeyourqualificationsastheyrelateto:

Post-secondary education in a related discipline (health,nursing, or similar) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of C.P.H.I. (C) certification and/or licensure as a Registered Nurse in the province of Ontario would be considered an asset.

Extensiveexperienceincaseinvestigations,contact follow-upandoutbreak management with a variety of diseases of public health significance.

Extensive experience coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating complex public health investigations, ensuringtimelyrisk assessment,accurate documentation, and adherence to legislative, policy, and program requirements.

Extensive Experienceutilizingpublic health information systems, performance metrics, and data analysis tomonitorprogram outcomes, support reporting requirements, and drive evidence-informed decision-making.

Considerable experience analyzing epidemiological, clinical, and operational information to inform decision-making,identify trends, assess risks, and implement effective interventions.

Considerable experience managing multiple concurrent projects, coordinating diverse teams and stakeholders, monitoring project milestones and deliverables, and implementing effective solutions to improve program performance, service delivery, and public health outcomes.

Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with hospitals, healthcare providers, community partners, and government stakeholders to support coordinated public health action.
