Serve as a Peer Support Specialist hael's Hospital, Toronto, focused on Addictions Services. Utilize your lived experience to foster recovery and provide compassionate support to patients.
Unity Health Toronto offers a part-time temporary role for a Peer Support Specialist within the Substance Use Services.
Your role will engage individuals experiencing substance use issues, providing them with hope and guidance through recovery-oriented practices in the Emergency Department and inpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide hope and encouragement to those in crisis
• Share your recovery story to support others
• Develop personalized wellness plans with individuals
• Assist teams in creating effective recovery strategies
• Educate on the importance of peer support
Requirements:
• Personal experience with substance use recovery
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
• Skills in crisis intervention and support
• Experience in fast-paced healthcare environments
• Interest in continuous education in addiction services
