Position Summary
The Desktop Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s desktop infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, and software applications. This role ensures reliable performance, security, and availability of end‑user devices while providing technical support to staff.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Manage operating system deployments, updates, and patch management.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues for end users.
- Maintain and support Microsoft Windows, macOS, and/or Linux environments (depending on organization).
- Administer Active Directory, user accounts, and group policies.
- Ensure compliance with IT security standards, including antivirus, encryption, and access controls.
- Monitor system performance and respond to incidents proactively.
- Collaborate with IT teams on network, server, and cloud services integration.
- Maintain an updated inventory of hardware and software assets.
- Document procedures, technical issues, and solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 2–4 years of experience in desktop/system administration or technical support.
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS (Windows 10/11), macOS, and mobile device management (MDM).
- Experience with Active Directory, Office 365, and endpoint management tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune, Jamf).
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Strong problem‑solving and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience with scripting (Power Shell, Bash, or Python) for automation.
- Exposure to virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V) or cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
- IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified:
Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or ITIL.
