Lead Talent Recruiter, Enterprise Talent Services at Motion RecruitmentOne of Canada's largest financial services companies is seeking a Data Engineer to support data analytics and infrastructure initiatives across North American and LATAM markets. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in cross-functional environments, working at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and product enablement. The engineer will play a key role in driving clean, scalable, and well-documented data pipelines while supporting dashboard accuracy, campaign targeting, and data migration initiatives.
This position begins as a 1-year, T4 or IC contract offering a hybrid schedule in Toronto and the potential to extend or convert to permanent employment!
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage developer portal assets, including user access, role assignments, and periodic security reviews
- Collaborate with distributed data engineering teams to troubleshoot table and pipeline issues
- Support analysts in setting up tables, managing data pipelines, and resolving incidents with the Superglue team
- Perform routine data pulls and segmentation for market targeting and campaign execution
- Conduct dashboard QA, monitor reporting health, and ensure data integrity
- Contribute to improving schema design, normalization, and schema evolution practices
- Assist in data migration from monolithic systems to domain-specific structures derived from microservices
- Design and implement database tables optimized for schema evolution and evolving business requirements
- Contribute to data usability, adoption, and documentation across paved path workflows
- Drive automation efforts and ensure scalable, compliant, and governed data solutions
- Deliver reusable and automated data aggregation, profiling, and visualization processes
- Support data architecture efforts with a focus on instrumentation, standards, and quality assurance
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3–4 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in SQL, with working knowledge of Python or R
- Experience working with BI tools, including Tableau and Qlik (strong preference)
- Hands-on experience building and managing production data pipelines
- Familiarity with data validation, data SLOs, and pipeline monitoring best practices
- Experience with Databricks, dbt, and cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP
- Solid conceptual knowledge of normalization, schema design, and transitive dependencies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in high-growth, ambiguous environments
- Effective communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of juggling multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with QuickETL
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related field—or equivalent experience
