Release Engineer
Overview
The Application Release Engineer is a senior-level role responsible for advancing automation-first, design-driven approaches to software delivery, deployment, and release management. This position provides technical leadership to improve the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of enterprise systems within a large financial services environment. The role partners closely with delivery teams to drive best practices across the end-to-end application deployment pipeline, ensuring high availability, faster time-to-market, and operational excellence.

Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM - Pay Rate: C $100 - C $120 per hour

- Provide senior-level direction to improve system design, scalability, reliability, and efficiency
- Advance automation-first practices across software delivery and release processes
- Execute and lead deployments and releases across multiple regions and environments
- Drive automation across:
- Source code management
- Build and packaging
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- CI/CD tooling and workflows
- Build and maintain testing ecosystems to ensure high availability for development and QA teams
- Maintain and enhance Dev Ops tooling and processes owned by the segment team
- Solve complex technical problems related to deployments and release events
- Communicate and enforce best practices for end-to-end software delivery
- Collaborate across engineering, operations, and platform teams using data and analytics to guide decisions
Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of overall professional experience
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and VMware Cloud
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- CI/CD and orchestration experience with Git Hub Actions and/or Jenkins
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong customer-focused mindset with attention to anticipating needs
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Proficiency with Salt Stack
- Experience with container technologies, including Kubernetes
