The Senior Data Governance Analyst will play a key role in providing structure and guidance on advising stakeholders and business units in executing on Data governance and management initiatives to establish Data Enablement Office as trusted partner.
This role ensures that data assets required and created for the project are well‑defined, well‑managed, high‑quality, and compliant with the client’s Data Governance Framework. The analyst will collaborate closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to support consistent and reliable data governance requirements and implementation delivery for the project.
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance Framework Requirements & Requirements Quality
- Oversee and guide the completion of required Data Governance framework artifacts including data access controls, metadata documentation, data quality rules, and data ownership assignments for all required datasets to be delivered for the project.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of enterprise data governance operational procedures and standards, ensuring they are practical, scalable, and aligned with project and organizational needs.
- Monitor, track, and review Data Governance artifact completion so that they are completed to a high standard, ensuring end‑to‑end alignment with access, metadata, data quality, and ownership requirements.
- Execute the Data change & issue management processes ensuring the appropriate engagement of the required stakeholders;
Work with stakeholders to develop practical strategies, plans, and solutions to identified issues and problems.
Operational Governance & SLA Alignment
- Provide advisory support to ensure operational data management needs are identified and reflected in service level agreements (SLAs) and operational readiness plans.
- Ensure that data acquired from upstream sources into the client’s strategic Data Platform is assessed, documented, and governed according to enterprise standards.
- Review and validate project‑specific RACI matrices to ensure clarity, completeness, and long-term operational supportability.
Communication, Enablement & Training
- Facilitate communications, walkthroughs, and training sessions to ensure project participants and operational teams fully understand their Data Governance roles and responsibilities.
- Promote adherence to data governance standards through consistent engagement and education.
Reporting Governance
- Review and advise on reporting practices to ensure report governance standards are met, including report sharing, access controls, publication metadata, data quality metadata, and alignment with enterprise reporting principles.
Qualifications
- University degree required;
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, MIS, Computer Science, or other related disciplines;
Understanding of privacy laws and regulations is an asset - 10 years + Experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or related disciplines.
- Strong experience with data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data quality processes.
- Proven successful experience delivering data governance for major data-intensive projects
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage across technical and business teams.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, data pipelines, and analytics/reporting environments is an asset.
