Pay Rate: $80/hr - $90/hr (CAD)

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to analyze, design, develop, and maintain complex mainframe systems. The role involves creating technical specifications, modifying and developing PL/I and COBOL code, integrating database and mid-tier components, supporting testing activities, and ensuring compliance with OPS standards. The candidate will work closely with project managers, DBAs, business analysts, and technical teams, while providing regular status updates and effective knowledge transfer.

• Analyze existing system architecture, database structures, and code
• Design logical and physical system changes and create technical specifications
• Develop and modify mainframe applications (online, batch, workstation)
• Coordinate with DBAs and mid-tier developers
• Conduct JAD sessions, walkthroughs, and obtain design signoff
• Perform unit, integration testing, defect analysis, and fixes
• Ensure QA standards, documentation, and knowledge transfer
• Report progress to the Project Manager / Technical Lead

• 10+ years of programming and systems analysis experience
• Recent experience with PL/I V4.5+ (within last 5 years)
• Experience with Fujitsu NetCOBOL V4+
• Strong experience with z/OS V2.2+, IMS DB V12+, and DB2 for z/OS V11+
• Experience developing PL/I transactions using XML and IMSCONNECT
• Experience with Endevor, IBM Debug Tool, File Aid / IBM File Manager
• Knowledge of public sector environments preferred.
