We’re seeking an experienced GIS Analyst to support a large-scale, government-led initiative focused on critical geospatial infrastructure, including readiness for Next Generation 911 (NG 911). This is a 12-month onsite contract based in Toronto, ideal for someone with a strong background in GIS data management, ArcGIS application support, and spatial database enhancements.

As a GIS Analyst
, you will play a vital role in maintaining the 911 road network, optimizing spatial data workflows, and supporting a range of technical GIS initiatives. You will contribute to data standardization efforts, troubleshoot GIS application issues, and develop dashboards and visual analytics to inform operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update the 911 road network within a centralized GIS repository
Collect, synthesize, and compile data from multiple internal and external sources
Support and troubleshoot GIS applications, including SQL-based query optimization and database performance
Develop enhancements to GIS tools, applications, and related databases
Conduct complex spatial data analyses and generate dashboards, reports, and data visualizations
Lead and support GIS initiatives related to ArcGIS upgrades, infrastructure lifecycle, and NG 911 compliance
Capture and translate business requirements into GIS business rules and configurations
Conduct system testing and deployment of GIS changes
Provide documentation, training materials, and occasional end-user support
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on multi-year, high-impact GIS projects
Must-Have
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as a GIS Analyst or in a similar geospatial role
Proven hands-on experience with
Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating spatial databases
Solid understanding of GIS principles
, spatial data standards, and geospatial data management practices
Experience maintaining and enhancing GIS applications, databases, and tools
Familiarity with internal/external data sources and spatial data exchange standards
Ability to build custom maps, dashboards, and analytical reports for stakeholders
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Nice-to-Have
Qualifications:
Experience supporting NG 911 initiatives or other public safety GIS systems
Familiarity with scripting or programming languages related to GIS (e.g., Python, Xbase, Dbase)
Background working on multi-year government or infrastructure projects
Ability to estimate workload, manage priorities, and support project planning
Experience leading GIS upgrades or system migrations
Training or facilitation experience with end-users and technical teams
