What is the Opportunity?We want every point of contact with our RBC Wealth Management clients to feel important to them. That’s where you come in. The Lead Digital Product Designer provides advanced domain knowledge, strategic advice and expertise to senior stakeholders and design peers on the use of user interface patterns and behaviours in digital experiences. The role leads complex projects, managing design and delivery of visual and interactive artifacts to define interactions with RBC Wealth Management’s products and services.

As a senior individual contributor on the Design team, you have domain fluency and provide technical and market guidance to others while making decisions about complex, ambiguous problems impacting product and business outcomes. You use your advanced knowledge of user and business needs to define metrics and test outcomes. Collaboratively planning projects, you have a significant influence on product and business strategy, identifying business opportunities and assigning tasks to others while working independently.
What will you do?Your expertise will shine and come to life with a focus on these 2 aspects:
Product Design Strategy & Delivery
Design Strategy
  • Break down complex topics and present effectively to broad audiences and senior stakeholders

  • Lead and facilitate design critique and ideation sessions, evaluate Digital User Experiences for inclusivity and provide advanced advice and guidance to cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Artifact Creation
  • Apply comprehensive design theories, research data and best practices to inform design decisions, while guiding and mentoring peers and teams

  • Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas. Create complex prototypes to provide high-fidelity specifications for development

  • Research and Testing
  • Collaborate with Design Researcher to design and facilitate research activities, analyze data, identify key findings to inform strategic decisions with clear and actionable recommendations

  • Research interaction design strategies in the financial services sector and perform competitive Design audits pertinent to specific design or business goals

  • Collaboration & Partnerships
  • Represent the Digital Product Design practice as a trusted business partner by providing measurable business value and leadership-level insights to cross-functional partners and stakeholders through demos, presentations, and workshops

  • Empower teams to succeed with a shared vision; delegating authority, and removing obstacles that hinder progress

  • What do you need to succeed?
    Must-have
  • BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. user experience, graphic, visual communications, digital product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), Systems Design / Human Factors Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in designing and developing usable interfaces across multiple platforms

  • Demonstrate ability to articulate design strategy, rationale, and logic; describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decisions

  • Strong expertise with Figma, accessibility, agile methodologies and user experience metrics

  • Experience designing web and mobile native user interfaces

  • Experience creating or contributing to a design system

  • Nice to have
  • MA/MS degree or certification in Design (e.g. user experience, graphic, visual communications, digital product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), Systems Design / Human Factors Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience or a related field

  • Experience working within a large organization and within an agile environment

  • Experience supporting and collaborating on the creation of robust Design Systems

  • Experience with Salesforce…
