What is the Opportunity?The Lead Business Systems Analyst (BSA) is responsible for system business analysis activities on large Risk & Compliance programs with teams across T&O and Operational Risk IT. The role demonstrates advanced knowledge and ability in business systems analysis where you will be responsible for facilitating the flow of requirements from the business partners to Technology teams for delivery. As a Lead BSA within the Technology Team, you will be the subject matter expert on the program requirements, acting as the central point of contact for IT, T&O teams and partnering with Business to drive requirements review, refinement, design and traceability.
What will you do?
Partner closely with Product Managers and business stakeholders to deeply understand business objectives and translate them into clear, actionable system and solution requirements.
Define and own the business analysis approach, including requirements planning, estimation, tasks, and deliverables; continuously refine estimates and plans to improve accuracy.
Lead requirements prioritization using structured techniques to align delivery with business value and strategic priorities.
Collaborate with Development and QA teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements; validate solutions against defined requirements when needed.
Elicit, analyze, and document detailed business and system requirements using Agile or iterative methodologies, leveraging tools and techniques such as:
User stories and story mapping.
System-to-system and data mapping.
Process flows and user context diagrams.
Apply advanced traceability and coverage analysis to ensure alignment across scope, requirements, testing, and implementation.
Assess and communicate the impact of changes through cost-benefit analysis, considering effort, timelines, risk, and business priorities.
Support design, development, and testing phases by providing clarifications, resolving ambiguities, and performing root-cause analysis.
Partner with Business and IT Program Management to ensure priorities are clearly understood and teams are equipped with the information needed to deliver high-quality solutions.
Build strong relationships across cross-functional teams and drive alignment and consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Must have:
12+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst within Banking and Financial Services, with increasing responsibility on large, complex initiatives.
Strong understanding of financial industry message formats, including ISO 20022, PAIN, BAI, EDI, CSV, XML, and COBOL copybooks (CPY).
Proven experience gathering requirements and translating them into user stories, Jira tickets, and clear documentation for technical teams.
Expertise in current-state and future-state analysis, workflow modeling, and process optimization.
Hands-on experience with multiple delivery methodologies, including Waterfall, Iterative, and Agile.
Strong background in system and data integration, including data mapping between source and target systems.
Experience with requirements planning, prioritization, stakeholder analysis, and effort estimation.
Solid data analysis skills using SQL and Excel.
Deep knowledge of requirements lifecycle management, including walkthroughs, scope and change management, traceability, backlog management, and prioritization.
Ability to navigate complex, high-pressure situations and resolve conflicts constructively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong technical writing capability.
Experience supporting audit, control, and risk-related documentation.
Experience in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), particularly Operational Risk, Regulatory Compliance, Change Management, or IT Risk.
Hands-on experience with Archer 6.x or similar GRC platforms.
Strong strategic mindset with the ability to influence across business and technology teams.
Working knowledge of APIs, system integrations, and batch versus real-time processing.
