Position: QA Job

We are actively recruiting for a Senior Systems Testing / QA Specialist position in an onsite QA job Toronto. This senior-level role supports mission-critical, large-scale enterprise systems within the Labour and Transportation Cluster of the Ontario public sector. It is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned QA professional seeking a high-impact contract position in Toronto’s competitive job market, where demand for experienced QA specialists remains strong.

About the QA Job Toronto Role

As a Senior QA Specialist in this Toronto-based onsite position, you will take ownership of leading and executing end-to-end testing activities for complex enterprise applications. This includes both GUI (graphical user interface) and non-GUI environments, spanning legacy mainframe systems to modern cloud-based platforms.

You will serve as a key advisor, providing strategic guidance on testing methodologies, selection and implementation of test tools, resource allocation, and adherence to industry-leading quality assurance best practices. Working collaboratively with testing leads, IT architects, business stakeholders, and project delivery teams, you will contribute across the entire Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) — from requirements analysis and design through development, testing, implementation, and ongoing post-deployment support.

This role emphasizes quality in high-stakes public-sector environments, where system reliability directly impacts citizens and government operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, document, and advise on comprehensive testing strategies, detailed test plans, and tailored test methodologies to ensure thorough coverage.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute critical testing phases including system integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), stress testing, load/performance testing, and regression testing.
  • Develop, peer-review, and manually/automatically execute test cases, test scripts, and realistic test data sets for both technical and business validation.
  • Lead QA initiatives in hybrid environments supporting Agile, Waterfall, and Dev Ops practices, adapting approaches to project needs.
  • Conduct AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) compliance testing, perform audits using tools like aXe and WAVE, identify barriers, and support remediation efforts to meet WCAG standards.
  • Drive cloud-based testing efforts leveraging Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services.
  • Proactively identify, log, track, and verify resolution of defects and system issues using structured defect management processes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including developers, business analysts, and operations—to deliver high-quality outcomes on time.
  • Maintain strict compliance with government QA standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Required Skills & Experience

    General QA Expertise

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in quality assurance, systems testing, and quality control within complex IT environments.
  • In-depth understanding of SDLC phases, structured testing methodologies (ISTQB-aligned), and proven QA best practices.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with functional, non-functional, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Proven track record in UAT planning, coordination, and successful execution with business users.
  • Proficiency using test management tools (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, Micro Focus ALM 12.5) and version control systems.
  • Skilled in designing and generating test data to support realistic scenarios.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation abilities, with a history of meeting tight deadlines in multifaceted projects.
