On behalf of our Government Services client, Procom is searching for a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist for a 9 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.

- Job Description:
This role involves working on critical privacy initiatives, focusing on privacy impact assessments and compliance with PHIPA. The position requires developing privacy tools and strategies to manage privacy risks in the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Health Information (PHI).
Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist - Responsibilities:
• Develop privacy impact assessments and review recommendations from the PIA of proposed solutions and business processes.
• Lead and provide technical expertise in developing access and privacy tools for data and digital initiatives.
• Engage with business, IT, legal, and privacy stakeholders across the ministry and government agencies.
• Examine complex proposals to assess and document business flow and context.
• Support projects to ensure compliance with security and privacy best practices, such as PHIPA.
• Provide technical and systems advice on legacy systems, internet tools, and system interfaces.
• Develop business processes and procedures that describe information flows associated with new technologies.
Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist - Mandatory
Skills:
• Understanding of policy development related to information management and privacy protection.
• Managing privacy risks in the collection, use, and disclosure of PHI.
• Experience in identifying and evaluating emerging privacy issues and trends.
• Competency in preparing comprehensive reports and proposing responses on privacy issues.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist – Nice-to-Have
Skills:
• Experience with privacy initiatives in the healthcare sector.
• Familiarity with the Freedom of Information Act (FOI).
• Knowledge of privacy enhancing technologies.
• Experience with stakeholder analysis and public/private partnerships.
• Understanding of governance structures and feasibility in terms of PHI protection.
