Data Architect – Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦

We’re seeking an experienced Data Architect to help shape our data ecosystem and develop scalable data models that support our business transformation. You will play a key role in defining domain data architecture, ensuring data quality, and driving consistency across solutions as we continue building a smoke‑free future.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with team members to understand data requirements and translate them into robust data models.
• Lead data modeling and design activities with the appropriate methodologies and level of detail.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, governance standards, and business processes.
• Understand and document business processes related to data creation, management, and use.
• Partner with Data Engineers to integrate data models into pipelines.
• Design and govern Domain Data Architecture, ensuring consistency across solutions.
• Ensure effective data integration within the domain.
• Conduct data profiling and analysis to maintain high data quality and integrity.
• Document data models and metadata for transparency and compliance.
• Guide development teams on data modeling guidelines.
• Participate in data architecture reviews and recommend improvements.

What You Bring

• Solid understanding of business processes tied to data creation and usage.
• Expertise in relational, No
  
  SQL, and time‑based data models.
• Experience in data integration, data governance, and master data management.
• Ability to visualize complex data structures and communicate them effectively.
• End‑to‑end methodology experience from business requirements to data modeling.
• Experience with data warehousing and BI modeling (Inmon, Kimball, Data Vault, Codd).
• Knowledge of SQL (ANSI 2003/2023), Snowflake, and No
  
  SQL technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing.
• Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL processes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in data architecture or similar roles.
• Certification in data modeling or architecture (e.g., CDP).
• Experience with data modeling tools.
• Knowledge of data security and privacy standards.
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe 5.0).
• Experience with Snowflake (DDL/DML, Snow Sight, Data Sharing/Data Exchange).
• Experience with AWS S3 & Athena.
• Experience with Confluence & Jira (Bitbucket is a plus).
• Solid understanding of data governance principles.

💰 Compensation Range: $120,000–$127,000 CAD + full benefits
