Software Developer – Full Stack; RQMinistry of Public and Business Service Delivery

Responsibilities

• Required to translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications. This includes developing detailed programming specifications, writing and/or generating code, compiling data‑driven programs, maintaining, and conducting unit tests.
• Resolves and troubleshoots technical problems which arise during the use and operation of software packages, including technical assistance in implementation, conversion and migrations.

• Experience in programming and analysis; specialized software package support at the specified experience level
• Ability to collaborate with IT Professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle
• Experience in structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications
• Experience in design, code, test, debug and document applications
• Experience in the use of object and/or third generation language development tools
• Experience in one or more programming languages
• Experience in application design, latest design patters, deployment and troubleshooting
• Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies
• Experience in the use of information retrieval packages using query languages
• Experience with one or more communications protocols
• Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of applications
• Experience eliciting and documenting information from diverse business area stakeholders and subject matter experts

• Proficient with both front end and back end development, including any associated areas such as database design/management and Dev Ops
• Knowledge and experience with design and implementation of the overall web architecture
• Experience with implementation of approved user interface, design and deployment of database
• Knowledge and experience ensuring the entire stack is designed and built for speed and scalability
• Knowledge and experience with the design and construction of REST API services
• Knowledge and experience integrating front‑end UI with the constructed API
• Knowledge and experience in design and implementation of continuous integration and deployment

• Knowledge and experience with programming Internet‑ready applications
• Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies
• Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
• Experience with middleware and gateways
• Experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts including encoding, testing, debugging
• Ability to provide post‑implementation support and resolve any post‑implementation technical issues
• Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with project team
• Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards
• Ability to provide user and system documentation as required

This position is listed as “Onsite”; the resource is expected to work between the standard working hours of 8:00‑5:00 PM (excluding lunch breaks) every Monday to Friday inclusive at the identified OPS office location.

Must have skills

• 5+ years’ experience with Drupal and Symfony
• 3+ years’ experience with JavaScript frameworks and Elasticsearch
• Experience collaborating with a multidisciplinary agile team

Digital & Product knowledge

• Strong knowledge of software standards and best practices in delivery of complex, user‑centric IT solutions.

Development experience

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in a professional, programming position implementing large‑scale solutions with Drupal, Symphony
• 3+ years’ experience with Java script frameworks and Elasticsearch
• Proficient in developing and integrating RESTful APIs
• Build our CI/CD and best practices
• Demonstrated experience with various relational and non‑relational data stores e.g. Postgre
