About Bree

Bree is a consumer finance platform that brings better, faster, and cheaper financial services to over half the Canadian population who live paycheck to paycheck. We operate in a huge, but overlooked market in a country with the least amount of financial technology innovation in the developed world. Our first act is to become the cheapest and best provider of short-term credit to the 20 million people in Canada who live paycheck to paycheck.

More than 600,000 Canadians have already signed up with Bree and we believe we are just scratching the surface. We are in an exciting place where we have product market fit, explosive growth, and a clear path to becoming one of the most important Fin Techs in Canada. We are at 8‑figures of annualized revenue, growing double‑digit monthly, profitable, and have had zero voluntary employee churn.

We were part of Y Combinator in 2021 and raised a $2 M seed round shortly after.

About

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape the next phase of Bree’s product. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant ownership and impact. You’ll work end-to-end on core product surfaces across mobile and web, partnering closely with Product and Engineering to define problems, explore solutions, and ship meaningful improvements for our users.

This role focuses on thoughtful product judgment, clear decision‑making, and delivering work that meaningfully improves outcomes for our users and the business.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the end-to-end design for major product initiatives, from problem framing and discovery through execution and launch
  • Partner deeply with different stakeholders including Engineers, CX, Business to turn ambiguous ideas into scoped, high‑impact releases
  • Design intuitive, accessible experiences across Bree’s mobile and web products, with a strong focus on clarity, trust, and usability
  • Use research, data, and direct customer feedback to inform decisions and iterate on solutions
  • Create and evolve user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that are ready to ship
  • Contribute to and help mature Bree’s design system, ensuring consistency while enabling fast iteration
  • Sweat the details while keeping sight of the bigger picture, balancing speed, quality, and impact
  • Advocate for our users, especially those navigating financial stress, by simplifying complexity and reducing friction
  • Collaborate in design critiques and team rituals, and help raise the overall bar for design quality at Bree
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience designing and shipping consumer digital products in fast‑paced environments
  • Strong end-to-end product design experience, spanning UX, interaction design, and visual design
  • Proven ability to work through ambiguity and make good decisions with incomplete information
  • Excellent product thinking, with a clear sense of what matters most to users and the business
  • Experience working closely with engineers and understanding technical constraints and tradeoffs
  • Strong visual and interaction design skills, with an eye for simplicity, hierarchy, and polish
  • Comfort using data, analytics, and experimentation to validate and improve your work
  • Proficiency with modern design tools like Figma
  • A portfolio that demonstrates thoughtful problem‑solving, real shipped work, and impact
  • Working knowledge of front‑end development concepts (e.g. components, state, APIs), and ability to reason about implementation while designing
Nice to Have
  • Experience designing fintech, lending, or other financial products
  • Familiarity with mobile‑first products and React Native environments
  • Experience contributing to or evolving a design system
  • Comfort "vibe coding" or prototyping in code when helpful, to explore ideas, validate interactions, or collaborate more closely with engineers
Benefits
  • Top of the market compensation for top performers
  • Comprehensive dental / vision
  • $1,500 annual learning & home‑office stipend
  • $1,000 annual wellness stipend
  • $250 monthly lunch stipend
  • $150 monthly commuter stipend
  • Annual company retreats
  • Parental leave
  • 20 annual PTO days + unlimited sick days
