SQL Database Administrator with Mongo

DB experience to support a database migration-

Location Toronto/Hybrid - 2 days in-office (will increase to 4 days in future)

Contract Duration: 6 Months (Possibility of extension)

Schedule

Hours:

9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

Business group: GTS - Technology Operations & Engineering oversees security compliance within Scotia’s internal Data Bases.

Project:
The team is currently working on a large data base migration, upgrade and require additional assistance. The candidate will be working the full end to end cycle of the upgrade from Installation, back up and configuration.

Typical Day in Role:

• Implementing Postgre

SQL database clusters with replication

• Manage database security/integrity and backup procedures

• Upgrade Database instances from lower versions to current versions.

• Assist with database design and development and tuning queries

• Independently manage Mongo

DB installations and configurations in Linux environments and cloud (GCP).

• Implement multi-data center replica sets and sharded clusters across Linux platforms and Mongo

DB Atlas on GCP.

• Ensure database security with knowledge of audit, security, backup/recovery and encryption at rest.

• Tackle complex problems through conceptualization and reasoning.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have

Skills:

• 10+ Years as a Database Administrator or relevant experience.

• 5+ years of recent experience with Strong Postgre

SQL skills from version 13 to current.

• 2+ years of Hands-on experience with Mongo

DB Enterprise and Mongo

DB Atlas.

• Previous experience with GCP Alloy

DB is critical for this role

• Proficient in configuring Mongo

DB in a Linux environment and cloud

• Experience with implementing multi-data center replica sets and sharded clusters

• Knowledge of audit processes, security measures, encryption at rest, Mongo

DB version upgrades

Nice-To-Have

Skills:

• Prior Scotia experience

• Previous experience with Cassandra Database and Redis experience is nice to have

Best vs. Average Candidate:

The ideal candidate would have experience with Postgre

SQL, GCP Alloy

DB, and Mongo

DB. They should also be competent working with Linux and GCP or another Cloud Platform. Previous experience with top 5 Banks is very nice to have.

Degrees or certifications:

- Bachelor's degree or related work experience

- Certified with Mongo

DB or GCP is very nice to have

- Video Interview (1 hour) with HM and team lead:
Technical based questions based on previous experience

- 2nd with director (1 hour):
Behavioral and Tech interview to gauge the team fit.
