Job Purpose
The Technology department is responsible for planning, implementing, managing, supporting, and improving the information technology infrastructure and data governance for the Canadian Investor Protection Fund.
The IT Systems Technician is the central point of contact to diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents across a range of software applications and initiatives. This is a fast-paced environment with minimal tolerance for downtime or errors, requiring a highly competent, self-starting professional who brings solutions, not problems.
This position will cover a leave, with a 2-month overlap for cross-training and knowledge transfer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, printer, and copier incidents across a range of applications.Troubleshoot issues for both remote and on-premises users.Support meeting room technologies and ensure availability for Board meetings.Build and configure new computers, wipe and prepare systems for reassignment.Backup the Senior Systems Administrator as needed.Mac & Mobile Device Management
Support Apple hardware and OS upgrades (currently moving to OS 26).Configure and manage Apple mobile devices and operating systems, including Air Watch/Workspace ONE enrollment.Maintain knowledge of Apple hardware lifecycle and warranty management.Microsoft Administration & Data Governance
Administer Microsoft Office including SharePoint and Teams.Implement and manage information protection, compliance, data loss prevention, sensitivity labels, and retention policies.Troubleshoot Office issues efficiently and independently.Network & Security
Support network connectivity troubleshooting.Assist with firewall configuration knowledge (Forti Net, Direct Connect).Manage antivirus, backup software, and file integrity monitoring.Website & Content Management
Update and maintain website content, document changes in CMS Change Log.Provide instructions or video tutorials for end-users as needed.Collaboration & Training
Provide training and reference materials to end-users for hardware, software, and meeting room technologies.Communicate effectively and calmly with a diverse team.Assist in developing and improving IT documentation.Participate in IT Disaster Recovery testing and other departmental initiatives.Administrative & Operational Responsibilities
Manage and track all IT assets.Onboard new staff.Prepare weekly task lists and escalate issues to IT Systems Manager as necessary.Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field.Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.Strong knowledge of Mac hardware, macOS, iOS
, and Air Watch/Workspace ONE.Strong Microsoft Office administration and security experience.Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure Cloud, AWS preferred.Knowledge of network troubleshooting, firewalls (Forti Net), Direct Connect, antivirus, and backup solutions.Ability to provide exceptional customer service, multi-task, and work independently.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Calm under pressure, self-starting, and solution-oriented.Key Competencies
