Position: Project Manager BFSI / Capital Markets
Location: Toronto
Mode of Work: Hybrid (3 or 4 days in client office downtown)
This job posting is for an existing, active vacancy and we are looking to hire a Project Manager with strong BFSI domain expertise and hands-on delivery experience across capital markets environments.
Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with strong BFSI domain expertise and hands-on delivery experience across capital markets environments. The ideal candidate will lead cross-functional teams to deliver technology and business transformation initiatives across front, middle, and back-office functions such as trading, risk, regulatory reporting, operations, treasury, and data platforms. This role requires a delivery-driven leader who can balance competing priorities, manage stakeholders effectively, and foster an inclusive, diverse, and high performing team culture.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of technology and business transformation initiatives within capital markets environments.
- Drive project execution across multi-stream, cross-functional teams spanning business, technology, and risk/compliance.
- Ensure effective management of scope, schedule, budget, RAID items, governance, and stakeholder expectations.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to provide clear and timely updates, escalating risks/issues as needed.
- Promote best practices across SDLC, change management, operational controls, and audit readiness.
- Support adoption of delivery tools such as Jira/Azure Dev Ops, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet, and Power BI.
Qualifications & Skills:
Must-Have Qualifications :
7+ years of project management experience delivering technology and/or business transformation initiatives in BFSI.
Strong understanding of capital markets concepts and trade lifecycle processes.
Proven experience managing complex, multi-stream projects across cross-functional teams.
Strong command of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, RAID, governance, and stakeholder management.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with confidence presenting to senior leaders.
Hands-on experience with delivery tools such as Jira/Azure Dev Ops, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet, and Power BI.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications :
Experience with in investment banking, global markets, wealth, treasury, or enterprise risk programs.
Exposure to data platforms (data lakes, lineage, governance), cloud migration, or regulatory technology initiatives.
Familiarity with operational controls, audit practices, SDLC, and change management frameworks.
Certifications such as PMP, Prince2, CSM/SAFe, PMI-ACP, or equivalent.
