Description:
We are seeking a Mainframe Production Support Analyst to provide ongoing support and maintenance for critical mainframe applications in a 24/7 environment. The role involves monitoring batch and online jobs, troubleshooting production issues, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring system stability, performance, and availability.
Location - Downtown Toronto (Hybrid - 4 days office and 1 day remote)
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Monitor and support mainframe batch and online applications (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, z/OS).
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure timely resolution.
• Manage incident, problem, and change management activities with clear communication to stakeholders.
• Execute and validate batch cycles, job restarts, reruns, and performance tuning.
• Provide 24/7 or on call support, responding quickly to critical system alerts.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to maintain system stability and minimize downtime.
• Maintain runbooks, support documentation, and operational procedures.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Must-Have
Skills & Experience:
• Hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and z/OS
• Experience monitoring and supporting mainframe batch and online production systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven root cause analysis capability
• Experience managing incident, problem, and change management processes
• Ability to work in a 24/7 or on-call support environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
Nice to Have:
• Experience with IMS (DB/Online/Batch)
• Payments domain knowledge (cards, POS, ATM, ISO , settlement, or payment processing flows)
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
• Familiarity with z/OS Connect, IDz, test automation, or zUnit
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines in mainframe environments
• Understanding of Java or Cloud fundamentals for cross-platform collaboration
• Experience working in financial services or other mission-critical 24/7 operations
