Senior Manager - Unified Communications
Lead the strategy, evolution, and delivery of enterprise‑scale Unified Communications s Sr. Manager role offers the opportunity to shape a secure, resilient, and future‑ready communications ecosystem—spanning cloud and legacy voice, collaboration platforms, and meeting room technologies—while directly influencing how tens of thousands of employees connect and collaborate every day.
You will operate at a strategic, enterprise level, guiding the roadmap and investment decisions across Microsoft Teams, M365, SIP‑based voice, cloud telephony, and modern meeting room solutions. You will balance innovation with operational excellence—ensuring high availability, security, performance, and cost efficiency—while piloting emerging technologies that enhance the end‑user experience.
Come lead, and develop a high‑performing team of engineers, translating complex technical architectures into clear business outcomes and acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. This is a hands‑on leadership role for an experienced Unified Communications professional who understands the full lifecycle—from infrastructure and network design to service delivery, capacity planning, and long‑term platform evolution.

This is a HYBRID role that currently requires 2 days in the office.
Top Core Skills- 10+ years of experience in Unified Communications overall, including IT infrastructure, networking, and Microsoft 365.
- 10+ years of technology/solution design and configuration, capacity management, hardware fault diagnosis, and service design.
- Expertise in Voice Over IP and VOIP products (MS Teams, Webex, Zoom).
- Understanding of SIP (session initiation protocol).
- Experience with Direct Routing (integrating SIP trunks from service providers such as Bell/Rogers).
- Experience with Meeting Room Technologies (deploying MS Teams Rooms, Cisco Webex endpoints).
- 5+ years in people‑leadership roles.
- Develop and implement IT infrastructure & platform strategies for BMO, aligning technical solutions with business needs and organizational growth.
- Own the Unified Communications portfolio, including legacy voice, cloud telephony, and meeting room technology.
- Perform capacity and workload modeling and availability analysis for platforms.
- Recommend infrastructure solutions and work with stakeholders to meet engineering requirements.
- Craft a holistic roadmap for all communication technologies (headsets, room equipment, laptops, Teams).
- Manage and grow a high‑performance engineering team, coaching employees, recognizing performance, and addressing poor performance.
- Provide strategic input to business decisions and act as a trusted advisor.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to influence design and improve the customer experience.
- Ensure infrastructure solutions are scalable, flexible, and maintainable, automating where possible.
- Oversee disasters recovery procedures, troubleshoot network and connectivity issues, and manage system uptime.
- Support on‑call or shift duty as required.
- Deep technical knowledge of the Unified Communications portfolio and working knowledge of M365 and Microsoft Teams.
- Ability to translate technical details into language understood by business partners.
- Strong project management and time‑management skills.
