Role Summary
The IT Network Intern supports the IT/Network team in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the organization’s network infrastructure. This role provides hands‑on experience with networking technologies, system administration, and IT support while assisting in day‑to‑day operations.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points
Monitor network performance and help identify connectivity issues or bottlenecks
Provide basic technical support to end‑users, including troubleshooting network‑related problems
Support the setup and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and Wi‑Fi networks
Help document network configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures
Participate in network security tasks such as updating antivirus software, applying patches, and monitoring for vulnerabilities
Assist in managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls
Work with senior network engineers on projects such as network upgrades or infrastructure improvements
Perform routine system checks and backups to ensure network reliability and data integrity
Stay updated with emerging networking technologies and best practices
Required
Skills & Qualifications
Pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds safely and as required by the role.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the role.
Ability to travel on‑site within the GTA as required
Preferred (Nice‑to‑Have)
Knowledge of network monitoring tools
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA – in progress is acceptable)
Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
Familiarity with networking hardware and operating systems (Windows/Linux)
Learning Outcomes
Gain hands‑on experience in real‑world network environments
Develop troubleshooting and technical support skills
Understand enterprise‑level networking and security practices
Work collaboratively in a professional IT team setting
Compensation & Work Arrangement
Competitive Base Salary between $20/hr.
- $25/hr.
Hybrid Work Model:
Minimum 3 days a week in the office.
